A vision
Hey! May we introduce Immanuel Schneider and Jakob Heide , the two founders of Roof Space.
The two childhood friends have known each other since high school and have traveled extensively together. Their shared love of travel inspired them to develop a rooftop tent that would meet their own standards, exceed them, and leave no room for compromise.
Manu brings his engineering skills and a passion for tinkering and perfection. Jakob, on the other hand, brings commercial expertise and motivation to structure and organize a company.
Development
And so it all began in 2020, in the classic way, in the garage at home in northern Germany. There was only the vision of the perfect roof tent, but not yet the solution. "Learning by doing" and "trial and error" were Manu and Jakob's constant companions. This went through several stages, each attempt bringing new features. For the fourth prototype, it was the gas pressure springs, and for the sixth, the idea of giving the folding roof tent a hard aluminum shell. The foundation for the new fusion experience of space, stability, and simplified travel was laid. Prototype 8 then introduced another innovation: Panorama mode. This transformed the tent into a roof terrace and demonstrated that a roof tent doesn't have to be just about sleeping.
Crowdfunding
In 2022, the time had finally come. The team completed Roof Space ONE as a development platform. Now it was time to go public, and the crowdfunding campaign was the springboard that exceeded their own expectations. Not only from a financial perspective, but also from the perspective of the developers, who could now share their passion and vision of freedom and adventure in their own community. The press also took notice, and the name Roof Space began to spread around the world.

While from now on it was a matter of producing and delivering the tents, at the same time we worked on further optimizing the tent. The first 100 customers provided realistic feedback, which will help us build the roof tent of the future with the ROOF SPACE 2. As a result, for example, quiet zippers, a connection for the auxiliary heater and a cover for the aluminum poles were installed. In the end, details make the difference when everything else is right.
With the ROOF SPACE 2 roof tent, a sophisticated tent is on the market that gives back the love and passion that went into creating it.
